Description
## Absorption **Absorption** represents a character who grows stronger by taking in kinetic energy from physical attacks and impacts. This trait is most commonly found in certain demons, elementals, giant monsters, and powerful artefacts. ### Effect For each **Level** of Absorption, the character may absorb up to **5 points of damage** from qualifying physical attacks and convert them into either: - **Health Points**, or - **Energy Points** > The choice of Health or Energy Points must be made when this Attribute is first assigned and cannot be changed later. The absorbed points are added to the character’s current total **before damage is applied**. ### Temporary Overcharge - Absorbed points may temporarily raise the chosen pool **above its normal maximum**, up to **twice the normal maximum**. - Any excess points above the normal maximum last until the **end of the current combat encounter or dramatic scene**, at which point they are lost. ### Valid Damage Types Absorption applies only to **physical attacks**, including but not limited to: - Guns - Swords - Punches - Energy blasts - Falling or collision damage ### Limitations Absorption **cannot** be used in the following cases: - Damage negated by **Armour** or **Force Field** (those points are not eligible for absorption). - Damage that is also being affected by the **Conversion** Attribute (a single attack cannot be both absorbed and converted). - Damage from **non-physical or complex attacks**, including weapons with any of the following Custom Enhancements: - Continuing - Drain (Any) - Flare - Incapacitating - Irritant - Psychic - Stun - Tangle
